Hi everyone !
Let’s talk about Champ des Sœurs. This estate is located in Fitou that is in the Languedoc region. This wine region is one of the biggest appelation in terms of cultivatable area surface.
The culture of the vines in Fitou exists there since many centuries. Indeed, this village give its name to the appelation in 1948, they were the first ! This is why Fitou is the oldest appelation from all the Languedoc-Roussillon.
The Champ des Sœurs is a family estate whom origin are from the 17th century. Today, Marie and Laurent Maynadier (13th generation of a wine marker’s family) own the vineyard.
The vines dominate the sea and the pond, without talking about the fantastic view, the vines benefit the feschness and humidity of the see breeze. They have a capital importance for the maturity of the grapes that can stop if they run out of water. Fitou is among the dryest village of France that’s why this meteorologic phenomen is crucial. Fortunatly the nature makes an amazing job and permits the wines to absorb the water which is on the vine’s leaves.
In this vineyard, Marie and Laurent do all the different steps by their own. That means, they do the harvest by hand, vinify the grape juice and make it become mature after the bottling.
They created the first Château Champ des Sœurs’ vintage in Fitou in 1999. For them, that’s a team work, a life job, a couple job.
